Position Overview

The role involves delivering expertise at a skilled level, focusing on the comprehensive maintenance of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Utilize the Energy Management Control System to monitor and manage HVAC operations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including sensor calibration, lubrication of components, belt and filter replacements, fluid changes, and equipment cleaning.
  • Install or replace equipment as necessary for renovations and projects.
  • Complete work orders and necessary documentation in compliance with EPA regulations.
  • Ensure proper disposal of refrigerants in accordance with state regulations.
  • Advise on parts procurement for repair needs.
  • Operate a university vehicle as required.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or vocational training with specialized courses in electrical systems, plumbing, or HVAC.
  • A minimum of three years of skilled experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification or the ability to secure certification within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to the HVAC field.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Awareness and caution to prevent personal and others' injuries.

Working Conditions

  • Uniforms and personal protective equipment will be provided.
  • Exposure to diverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
  • Potential exposure to chemical fumes and biohazards.
  • Involvement with electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Physical requirements include lifting and manual dexterity.
