Job Summary

This position is located at the Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and supervising the technical functions and administrative duties of the AO Grants Evaluation Specialists. The role requires providing on-going assistance to the AO Administrator in resolving Division grievances, reviewing and approving disciplinary actions of Division staff, managing travel, staff, and equipment resources, and identifying skills gaps and training needs of Division staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and supervise the technical functions and administrative duties of the AO Grants Evaluation Specialists.
  • Provide on-going assistance to the AO Administrator in resolving Division grievances, reviewing and approving disciplinary actions of Division staff, managing travel, staff, and equipment resources, and identifying skills gaps and training needs of Division staff.
  • Allocate the Division staffing and resources appropriately to meet demands of the grant's evaluation workload assigned to the Division.
  • Supervise the technical assistance efforts to Indian tribes and TDHEs by directing and monitoring the Division's responses to questions concerning compliance requirements, and the development of tailored packages to address specific needs.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
  • Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Experience interpreting grant policy; AND - Experience administering and managing discretionary grants to public and private organizations; AND - Experience implementing and interpreting government or organizational financial policies.
