Job Summary

As a Disability Correspondence Coordinator at Slocum-Dickson Medical Group, PLLC, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing all requests for medical records. This includes receiving and scanning requests and forms, assessing their validity and legality, and charging for the completion of disability forms based on current department fees. You will also be responsible for attaching tracking sheets to FMLA forms, contacting patients to inform them of completed forms, and accurately completing disability forms. Additionally, you will post payments in the system, close out payments, and retrieve money bags from the Reception Team Leader. You will maintain a high level of productivity and proper turn-around time on all release of information requests, adhering to Federal and State regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities

Receives and scans all requests and forms into the ROI module
Accurately assesses validity and legality of authorizations and requests for information
Charges for the completion of disability forms based on current department fees
Attaches tracking sheets to FMLA forms
Contacts patients to inform them of completed forms
Accurately completes disability forms
Posts payments in the system
Closes out payments
Retrieves money bags from the Reception Team Leader
Maintains a high level of productivity and proper turn-around time on all release of information requests
Adheres to Federal and State regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA

Requirements

Graduate of an approved school of Health Information Technology preferred
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or previous correspondence experience preferred

Working Relationships

Frequent contact with internal and external customers, including physicians, patients, and employees. Develops relations with local and governmental agencies, as well as insurance companies. Must be able to work well with co-workers and maintain a professional conduct and a high level of customer service with those persons in which contact is made, either in person or over the phone.
