Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Vitability Health is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team in Spring Valley, NY.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and diagnose patients with psychiatric disorders, developing individualized treatment plans to improve their mental health and well-being.
  • Prescribe medications and provide psychotherapy to patients, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, including medical histories, comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, and identifying issues that may be affecting the patient's mental health.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to manage their mental health and make informed decisions about their care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors, to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree preferred.
  • Current registered nurse license and certification in New York State.
  • Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting, with at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and regulations to provide and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of drug regimens and their indications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues, and approaches in psychiatry.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the advanced practice of nursing.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
