Responsibilities:- Assess patients' mental health conditions through comprehensive evaluations and medical histories.
- Develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines.
- Prescribe psychotropic medications and related treatments to improve functional health status.
- Educate patients and families on psychiatric conditions and provide instructions on proper intervention and treatment.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to manage acute and long-term medical and psychiatric needs.
- Document patient medical history and treatment plans effectively and maintain confidentiality.
- BSN, MSN preferred; successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner psychiatric program.
- Current registered nurse license and certification in New York State.
- Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting, plus at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and regulations to provide and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of drug regimens and their indications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues, and approaches in psychiatry.
- Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the advanced practice of nursing.
- Displays exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
