Job Summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our patients' care plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation, while maintaining and promoting the health of patients.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Conduct health assessments, identify normal and abnormal health characteristics, and develop plans of care.
  • Initiate appropriate interventions and evaluate care outcomes on defined patient populations.
  • Perform invasive, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures necessary for defined patient populations, based on licensure and credentialed privileges.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or Compact State Licensure within 60 days.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • ANCC Recognized Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, based on applicable patient population.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (not required for Employee Health, Employee Health Well-Being, Primary Care, and Telemedicine departments).
  • Prescriptive Authority from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Narcotics License (DEA) within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care teams, and patients and their families.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components.
  • Ability to function independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care teams, and patients and their families.
