Role Summary:
As a Volunteer Board Member, you will provide strategic leadership and governance to the Peace Economy Project. This partnership between the Board and the Executive Director is critical to the organization's success. You will serve as a trusted advisor, reviewing outcomes and metrics to measure the organization's impact and effectiveness.

Responsibilities:
Leadership, Governance, and Oversight

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director, providing guidance on the implementation of the Peace Economy Project's strategic plan.
  • Approve the organization's annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions, ensuring compliance with legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Contribute to an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director, providing constructive feedback for growth and improvement.
  • Assist the Executive Director and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members, fostering a diverse and inclusive board.
  • Represent the Peace Economy Project to stakeholders, serving as an ambassador for the organization and its mission.
  • Ensure the Peace Economy Project's commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities it serves.
Fundraising

  • As a Board Member, you are expected to consider the Peace Economy Project a philanthropic priority, making an annual gift that reflects your capacity to support the organization.
Board Development

  • Board Members are expected to leverage their personal relationships and connections to help the fundraising and outreach goals of the organization, identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the Peace Economy Project to advance its mission.

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to the mission of the Peace Economy Project.
  • Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.
  • A commitment to and understanding of the Peace Economy Project's beneficiaries, preferably based on experience.
  • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of the Peace Economy Project's beneficiaries.
