Position Summary:
We are in search of a seasoned Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering Specialist to join our Water/Civil practice. This role will primarily support our rail services and cater to various public and private sector clients throughout the United States. The position offers flexibility with options for fully remote work or a hybrid arrangement at one of our established office locations.


Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydrologic analyses under diverse flood, climatic, and meteorological conditions across the nation.
- Perform open channel 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling using both steady and unsteady methodologies.
- Design hydraulic drainage structures.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering study reports and preliminary design concepts.
- Coordinate effectively with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Manage client relationships and oversee project execution.
- Engage in short-term travel for fieldwork, including hydraulic surveys in varying outdoor conditions.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a focus on water resources or a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
- Experience: The ideal candidate will possess 8-15 years of relevant experience, although candidates outside this range who meet core qualifications will also be considered.
- Skills: Proficiency in water resources engineering, particularly in hydrology and hydraulic analyses, utilizing various methods and software such as HEC-HMS and two-dimensional HEC-RAS models is essential. Experience in the railroad industry is advantageous.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel for fieldwork, including periodic trips lasting up to four days at project sites, is required.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with mapping and CAD drafting software, including ArcGIS and MicroStation, is preferred. CFM certification and knowledge of FEMA regulatory models for floodplain permits are beneficial.
- Understanding of USACE Nationwide Permits and their implications for identifying replacement bridges and culverts is a plus.
