Civil Engineer

Bureau of Reclamation is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team as a Hydrologic Specialist. As a key member of our water resources team, you will be responsible for performing flood hazard analyses, water resource planning, and operations studies. Your expertise in hydrologic and water resources engineering will be essential in helping us meet increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform flood hazard analyses and water resource planning and operations studies, including flood frequency analysis, volume frequency analysis, and flood risk analysis.
- Develop and utilize complex numerical, mathematical, and statistical models for analysis of water supplies and demands, river and reservoir operations, and hydrologic hazards.
- Apply statistical methods to analyze and interpret observed and simulated hydrologic and climate conditions to address hydrologic and water resources issues.
- Develop computer codes and applications for data management and automation of data processing, data analysis, and modeling workflows.
- Provide peer review and technical mentorship, training, and advice in the areas of hydrology and water resources engineering.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and publications for hydrologic and water resource engineering studies.
- Deliver effective oral presentations and briefings to diverse audiences, including team members, clients, leadership, and external agencies.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- At least one full year of specialized experience in hydrologic and water resources engineering, including experience with flood hazard analyses, water resource planning, and operations studies.
- Experience using teamwork to address complex hydrology and water resources issues and preparing written reports and oral presentations documenting data, methodologies, recommendations, and conclusions related to hydrologic and water resource engineering studies.
