Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is a versatile professional tasked with providing comprehensive clinical and procedural patient care, working under the guidance of the Practice Manager and/or center Physicians/Providers.

This role is essential to the healthcare team, contributing significantly to patient care management. Key Responsibilities
  • Confirm patient details through interviews, documenting medical history and verifying the reason for the visit.
  • Input medical history and visit data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Guide patients to examination rooms.
  • Gather relevant medical information and enter it into the EHR.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by providing necessary materials and ensuring readiness for the Physician's arrival.
  • Assist in taking photographs and support the physician during examinations and procedures.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of medical procedures.
  • Educate patients on the correct use of medications.
  • Process prescriptions to various pharmacies.
  • Change wound dressings, remove sutures, and perform in-office phlebotomy.
  • Collect, log, and package laboratory specimens for transport.
  • Ensure sterilization of medical instruments.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies by tracking stock levels, placing orders, and confirming receipt.
  • Conduct phone triage.
  • Inform patients of pathology and lab results.
  • Document office visits as a scribe.
  • Administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and topical medications as prescribed.
  • Perform and document nurse visit appointments, including suture removals, UVB treatments, Excimer therapy, Patch Testing, and Biologic injections.
  • Uphold a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent certification
Previous experience in a medical office setting
Ability to learn related tasks and assist management and physicians
Self-driven to meet the highest standards of patient care and customer service
Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
Knowledge of ModMed EMA EMR (preferred)
Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA regulations
Collaborative team player
