Make a significant impact in the lives of older adults in New York City, their families, and the broader community. For over six decades, PSS has been dedicated to essential services through its various centers and programs, positively influencing the lives of over 1,000 individuals daily. As a Program Aide at one of our senior centers, your primary responsibilities will include serving meals to members, adhering to food safety protocols, and assisting in activities designed to promote health, engagement, and connection among our members. This role is vital for the overall well-being of those we serve.
Reporting Structure: This position is non-exempt and reports directly to the PSS Kitchen Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Distribute meals to center members.
- Prepare food items for service.
- Adhere to safety protocols for food handling and service.
- Develop and display menus.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
- Support the Center Program Coordinator in various activities.
- Engage with members actively.
- Facilitate group workshops.
- Encourage participation in center activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Preferred experience working with older adults.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (25-60 lbs) as required.
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Demonstrated stamina and physical fitness for the role.
