We are currently seeking an Evening Histology Specialist with a strong background in research specimens to become an integral part of our team. This role can be offered in a full-time or per diem capacity. Under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager, the Evening Histology Specialist will utilize their expertise in histotechnician-related tasks to manage the daily histology workload effectively. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys tackling complex challenges, possesses excellent communication skills, has experience in team collaboration, and thrives in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and specialized histological procedures, including specimen accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining (both routine and special).
  • Adhere to established SOPs and complete necessary job-related training.
  • Assess, modify, or create procedures to fulfill the unique requirements of specific research studies.
  • Maintain precise records for all specimens.
  • Document all work progress within our Laboratory Information Systems.
  • Propose and recommend processes, systems, and operational improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of professional technical experience in a histology laboratory.
  • Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a preclinical research environment is advantageous.
  • Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to work late or weekend shifts is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, meticulous, and possessing high integrity and discipline.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
