Job Title: Histology Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technologist to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Histology Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by pathologists. This is a per diem position with variable shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare tissue specimens by treating with chemicals, slicing with a microtome, and placing on glass slides for microscopic examination and analysis.
  • Responsible for reporting identified safety issues, such as hazardous environments, and medical errors.
  • Assist residents in selecting proper stains for histology examination.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in immunohistochemistry staining, tissue fixation and processing, and histochemistry staining.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and adhere to policies and procedures recommended by the Chairman of the Department of Pathology.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year full-time experience in Histopathology working under the direction of a Board-certified anatomic pathologist.
  • Preferred: AA/AS, ASCP Histo-tech certification
