Exciting Opportunity as a Research Associate III, Histology Technical Specialist based in Foster City, CA


Role: Research Associate III, Histology Technical Specialist

Duration: 12 months with potential for extension


Seeking an experienced Histology Technician to join the Pathobiology Lab Operations Group. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance pathology and translational research efforts while supporting cutting-edge drug development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and high-resolution scanning.
  • Manage histology requests from receipt to completion, ensuring timely communication and outstanding customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with protocols in managing clinical and non-clinical samples.
  • Implement quality control measures for histological integrity, equipment upkeep, and accurate sample handling.
  • Provide guidance to R&D scientists on histology techniques, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.


Core Qualifications:

  • AS/BS degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Pathology, or a related Life Science field.
  • Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant histology experience.
  • Strong professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Knowledge of sample tracking and inventory management.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and good visual acuity.

  • Lack of relevant certification or degree.
