Position Overview

The Licensed Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering respiratory care and conducting diagnostic evaluations within their professional scope, adhering to all relevant regulations, standards, and protocols set forth by Cottesmore.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Valid respiratory care license in the practicing state
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in respiratory therapy is required, with a preference for geriatric care
  • Certification as a Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Therapy (NBRC)
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory
Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate effective teaching skills to educate diverse groups, including healthcare professionals, patients, and their families
  • Communicate clearly regarding patient conditions and treatment plans
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills to comprehend pathophysiology and provide recommendations to physicians for optimal disease management
  • Make autonomous decisions when necessary
  • Stay informed about relevant practices, procedures, and legal guidelines in post-acute care settings
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Perform competently in all required areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and vendors
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all sensitive information
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following Cottesmore's Code of Conduct and completing all mandatory compliance training
Essential Duties
  • Accurately and safely collect specimens from adult and geriatric patients
  • Administer respiratory care services, including airway management, CPR, medical gas and oxygen therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, infection control, suctioning, and emergency interventions
  • Ensure respiratory therapy is delivered in accordance with physician directives and established standards
  • Assist medical staff in evaluating patients and developing appropriate therapy plans
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
  • Support patient evacuation efforts when necessary
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment in all tasks
  • Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving throughout the workday
  • Possess proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language
