We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at University Hospitals. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview and register patients, ensuring accurate and timely completion of medical and demographic information.
- Enter and validate patient data, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Prepare and distribute patient materials, including forms, labels, and brochures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, processing physician orders and scheduling appointments.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Identify and communicate the need for interpreter services, ensuring language access for all patients.
- Provide patient education on third-party coverage and liabilities, as well as possible payment options.
- Collect, post, and balance patient payments, ensuring accurate financial records.
- Maintain expertise in PAS legal and compliance requirements, incorporating principles into workflows.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service.
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
- Associate's Degree or progress towards degree (Preferred)
- Medical Terminology (Preferred)
- 1+ years experience in call center, patient registration, scheduling, office, banking, customer service or related medical field using computers (Required)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and general office equipment
