Job Overview:
This position is focused on supporting the engineering efforts within the City of Sacramento's Community Development Department, specifically in the Building Division, Plan Review Section.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant codes, laws, and regulations for various complex projects.
- Work under general supervision, contributing to the planning, design, and technical investigation of public works and building projects.
- Engage in the preparation of plans and specifications for various construction projects, including utilities, streets, and related public works.
- Supervise and assign tasks to technical staff, reviewing their work and aiding in problem-solving.
- Conduct research on building codes and industry standards, developing and revising design and construction standards as necessary.
- Participate in traffic and transportation engineering programs and the Building Code Compliance program.
- Investigate field issues affecting stakeholders and prepare estimates and feasibility reports for new services.
- Manage contracts for construction projects and ensure compliance with city building codes.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution or possession of an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate.
- A minimum of one year of experience in professional civil engineering work in relevant areas.

Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to perform complex engineering calculations and prepare detailed engineering plans.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
