Scope of Work

The RN Nurse Educator Hospice will be responsible for assessing the educational needs of patients and families, developing and implementing educational programs, and evaluating their effectiveness. This role will also involve collaborating with the Nurse Leader and other members of the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

The RN Nurse Educator Hospice will spend approximately 50% of their time as a staff nurse, responsible for the overall nursing care management of an assigned group of patients. They will use clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.

The remaining 50% of the time will be spent as a nurse educator, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating orientation, in-services, competencies, and continuing education programs within the area of specialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the educational needs of patients and families and develop educational programs to meet those needs.
  • Implement and evaluate educational programs to ensure they are effective in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Leader and other members of the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Use clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate orientation, in-services, competencies, and continuing education programs within the area of specialization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing – Required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Education or Adult Education – Preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience in clinical experience related to the area of focus – Required
  • Education and program development experience – Preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan – Required upon hire
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support within 90 days – Required
  • Specialty Certification within 1 year or Board Cert Nursing Professional Development (BC-NPD) – ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center within 1 year
