Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in Bronx, New York.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for performing routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using automated and manual instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical technology and excellent analytical skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid, and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment.
  • Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Review data prior to release and report all panic, abnormal, etc. values.
  • Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures, and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required.
  • Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment.
  • Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system, as necessary.
  • May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for technicians.
  • Assist with the training of new employees.
  • Maintain a clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Position requires at least a Bachelor's degree in a physical science, medical technology preferred.
  • New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit are required. Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three months for continued employment.
  • Laboratory and hospital information system computers, variety of automated equipment, and other laboratory equipment are required.
