This role involves assisting engineers in operating testing equipment to gather performance data on components and assemblies under various operating conditions. The candidate will collect, compile, and summarize test data, collaborating with Engineering to address issues such as equipment malfunctions and incomplete test results. Additionally, diagnosing and servicing test equipment malfunctions is a key responsibility.
Job Summary/Objective:
The Field Service and Commissioning Specialist plays a crucial role in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of projects as needed. This individual will gain comprehensive knowledge of the major subsystems of copper and aluminum rod mills and provide installation guidance and support.
The Specialist will work closely with various departments to foster continuous improvement in processes and equipment provided by the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Independently supervise customer installations of systems.
- Utilize extensive knowledge and experience to install, configure, commission, and troubleshoot subsystems of continuous processing systems, including pumps, motors, and valves.
- Identify and solve complex problems to enhance processes and equipment.
- Assist in the specification, installation, and modification of systems.
- Manage service programs, including periodic audits and preventive maintenance for end users.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance documentation for equipment sold to end users.
- Conduct customer training on system features and general maintenance.
- Transfer operational knowledge to customers and new employees through various communication methods.
- Act as a resource for technical inquiries from existing and prospective customers.
- Generate daily progress reports during start-ups and field service visits.
- Prepare analytical reports, evaluate data, and recommend operational improvements.
- Document customer visits, process audits, and troubleshooting approaches meticulously.
- International travel may be required, potentially lasting several weeks at a time.
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Specialized Degree: Engineering degree or 15+ years of direct experience
Years of Experience: 5+ years in a relevant field
Field of Expertise: Installation and maintenance of industrial equipment.
Preferred Experience: 10+ years
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proven track record of successful project completion.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or willingness to learn.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals.
