Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the month-end financial closing process, ensuring accurate recording of all revenues and expenses, along with comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations across various entities.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of the general ledger to maintain the integrity of financial statements.
  • Manage daily cash flow and banking transactions, collaborating on the reconfiguration and implementation of financial systems, and supervising the order-to-cash accounts receivable reconciliations.
  • Take charge of daily and monthly banking operations, including cash, credit card transactions, and statement reconciliations.
  • Ensure the monthly bank reconciliation process is completed accurately within the financial system.
  • Maintain thorough records for accruals and prepayments, supported by supervisory reviews of prepaid expense and insurance schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports detailing revenue and operating expenditures, providing insights and analyses of business drivers to optimize costs and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to streamline the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes.
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards, and facilitating a timely and effective audit process for US entities.
  • Provide assistance in building a scalable and efficient accounting function.
  • Manage the monthly financial closing activities, procedures, and account reconciliations.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting and financial reporting, along with internal controls.
  • Offer strategic support to the management team, including the development of budgets, forecasts, key metrics reports, and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Assist in the upgrade and implementation of financial systems, including General Ledger, billing, travel and expense, and accounts payable procurement.
  • Record fixed asset additions, disposals, and transfers accurately.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the year-end financial statement audit and any statutory audits that may arise.
  • Adapt to evolving tasks and responsibilities as the business continues to grow and change.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to adapt and pivot in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Strong accounting knowledge with proven experience in US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Extensive experience in end-to-end processes for month-end closing, functional reporting, cash flow forecasting, and preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to resolve complex accounting issues.
  • A positive, 'can-do' attitude, willing to tackle tasks ranging from manual processing to larger projects.
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to plan and execute work efficiently.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial records to external stakeholders.
  • Experience with large ERP accounting software (Netsuite is a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Alignment with Bergen Logistics' principles of collaboration, respect, and accountability.
