Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead our HPC EDA infrastructure team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining AMD's technological leadership position in HPC EDA infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a thorough review of our existing HPC EDA infrastructure and collaborate with cross-functional teams to re-architect a future global hybrid on-prem and multi-cloud HPC infrastructure that is highly efficient, utilized, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Develop innovative approaches to maximize grid performance and efficiency, including overprovisioning workloads to reduce memory waste and idling servers.
  • Lead the development of new HPC EDA strategies, solutions, processes, or technologies with significant impact on AMD product families, go-to-market strategies, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain AMD's technological leadership position in HPC EDA infrastructure and represent AMD to the outside technical community, partners, and vendors.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in supporting EDA engineering compute grids and applications, from open source to in-house workflows.
  • A proven track record of sustained innovation in adopting cloud technologies, including effective use of public cloud spot instances to increase ROI for EDA workloads.
  • Strong experience in supporting large-scale GRID solutions running LSF, UGE, Slurm, NC, and monitoring/analytic tools such as PowerBI or similar platforms.
  • Excellent skills in Linux/Unix and NAS HPC for all types of Silicon Engineering and software development use cases.
  • Superior experience in programming and debugging software and scripts written in C/C++/Python/PERL or similar languages.
  • Ability to develop and articulate strategic shifts and initiatives in HPC EDA landscape to senior IT and engineering leaders and users.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering. Locations: San Jose, CA, Longmont, CO, Austin, TX, Boxborough, MA.
