Position Overview

New England Cancer Specialists is seeking a dedicated Oncology Clinic Manager for our Scarborough location. This pivotal role is accountable for the effective and safe management of the assigned clinic, ensuring high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.

The Oncology Clinic Manager will oversee clinical personnel, including nurses, medical assistants, patient care coordinators, and reception staff, providing guidance and support to functional supervisors. Key responsibilities encompass:

  • Leadership and Coaching: Mentor and guide healthcare team members in delivering patient care with an emphasis on safety and proficiency. Provide necessary coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Staff Management: Approve and monitor timecards for direct reports, ensuring optimal staffing levels at all times.
  • Scheduling Coordination: Manage clinical provider schedules, including paid time off and continuing medical education, while also overseeing weekend clinic and on-call schedules.
  • Recruitment and Training: Participate in the hiring process, making recommendations and facilitating new hire orientation to ensure comprehensive training.
  • Resource Management: Ensure the availability of necessary resources, supplies, and materials for patient care.
  • Goal Development: Assist in formulating departmental goals and work towards achieving objectives related to clinic and treatment areas.
  • Professional Development: Coordinate and engage in continuing education programs and community initiatives related to Oncology and Hematology.
  • Compliance and Standards: Maintain patient care standards, ensuring that all functions such as assessment, treatment, and documentation adhere to regulatory guidelines.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure clinical operations align with organizational policies and procedures, facilitating the smooth execution of nursing practices.
  • Policy Implementation: Coordinate and complete compliance reviews of new clinical standard operating procedures as directed by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing preferred; Bachelor's degree required (or to be obtained within two years of starting the role).
  • A minimum of five years of nursing experience in an oncology environment.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Maine.
  • OCN Certification or the ability to obtain it within twelve months of starting the position.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills and business acumen.
