Job Summary

Macdonald & Cody, LLP is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Pre-Litigation Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing pre-litigation settlement demands, determining eligible claimants, and facilitating settlement of personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and Analysis: Examine pre-litigation settlement demands to develop a strategy for effective settlement of personal injury and wrongful death claims.
  • Eligible Claimants: Identify all possible claimants eligible to participate in settlement and facilitate the settlement of all known claims.
  • Insurance Policy Documentation: Review and analyze insurance policy documentation to confirm the inclusion of appropriate persons in the settlement.
  • Required Documentation: Secure necessary documentation to ensure compliance with conditional demands.
  • Client Communication: Maintain active and ongoing communication with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel regarding case status.
  • Legal Correspondence: Draft legal correspondence and settlement documents.
  • Payment Issuance: Ensure timely payment issuance to claimants.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members on case strategy and resolution of settlement issues.
Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication: Strong written, telephone, and in-person communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Multi-Tasking: Ability to multitask and handle a large caseload with varying deadlines.
  • Court Rules: Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and filing procedures is a plus.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe.
Required Education
  • ABA Paralegal Certificate: Possession of an ABA Paralegal Certificate is required.
