Position Overview

As a vital member of the Facilities Management Department, the Grounds Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of the campus grounds. This position is primarily outdoor-focused, ensuring that all areas are kept clean, safe, and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform weeding and mulching in landscaped areas, including flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
  • Regularly clear litter from the grounds and manage trash receptacles to maintain cleanliness.
  • Utilize various landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and blowers, to care for the grounds.
  • Address and repair surface issues in asphalt parking lots and roadways as necessary.
  • Pressure wash surfaces such as sidewalks and building exteriors to uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Engage in planting activities, including trees, flowers, and shrubs, while ensuring proper irrigation and maintenance of lawns and gardens.
  • Assist in event preparations by setting up necessary equipment, such as stages and seating.
  • Collaborate with Campus Services staff to support other departmental needs.
  • Fulfill additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
