The Grounds Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role within the Facilities Management Department, reporting directly to the Director of Campus Services. This position primarily involves outdoor work, ensuring the campus grounds are well-maintained and visually appealing. Responsibilities include a variety of landscaping tasks such as litter removal, trash disposal, and the upkeep of outdoor aesthetics. The successful candidate will be expected to operate a range of lawn and garden machinery, including but not limited to mowers, leaf blowers, and weed eaters. Additionally, planting and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers, as well as managing irrigation and fertilization, will be key duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform weeding and mulching in flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
  • Maintain cleanliness by removing litter and emptying trash bins as necessary.
  • Operate various gardening equipment for mowing, trimming, and fertilizing.
  • Repair and fill in potholes in asphalt surfaces as needed.
  • Pressure wash sidewalks, concrete areas, and buildings when required.
  • Plant and maintain trees, flowers, and shrubs, ensuring proper watering and care.
  • Assist with event setups, including the delivery and arrangement of equipment.
  • Collaborate with Campus Services staff to support departmental objectives.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
