Position Overview:

The Leak Repair Assistant Technician plays a crucial role in the safe identification, assessment, and rectification of leaks at various client sites. This position involves engaging with a diverse clientele to enhance the visibility of Colt Services LLC within a designated region, as well as mentoring and guiding new technicians or assistant technicians. The Assistant Technician is dedicated to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and integrity at Colt Services LLC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy working environment by complying with company and client safety protocols, while proactively notifying others of potential hazards related to your work.
  • Execute all assigned tasks while upholding Colt's Core Values.
  • Assist in evaluating leaking components and communicate findings to operations, engineering, and client representatives.
  • Support leak repair operations, which may involve various techniques and tasks, including:
  1. Drilling and tapping of components.
  2. Wire wrapping and banding.
  3. Utilizing measuring instruments such as calipers and tape measures to achieve complex design specifications.
  4. Installing various clamps and enclosures.
  5. Measuring intricate geometries of components.
  • Maintain on-call status to respond swiftly to customer emergencies on-site.
  • Assist in inspecting leak repair devices supplied by manufacturers as part of quality assurance before installation.
  • Recognize the need for appropriate safety equipment in collaboration with the plant and Colt's safety guidelines to ensure the safest execution of all projects.
  • Contribute to documentation and administrative tasks as required on a project-by-project basis.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with field personnel, client representatives, and management to ensure successful project completions.
  • Stay informed about company products and services available to clients.
  • Be open to assisting with sales activities throughout the assigned territory.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to follow supervisory directions and maintain consistent attendance.
  • Adhere to quality procedures and exhibit a strong commitment to safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or trade school education is preferred.
  • This is an entry-level position, but candidates must possess mechanical aptitude and skills.
  • Some experience with online leak repair is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass routine and random drug screenings.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often requiring quick changes in assignments.
  • Proficiency in understanding, speaking, and writing in English is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments within specified deadlines.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance and repair work is preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based out of a branch or site location with specific geographic responsibilities.
  • Field duties involve both indoor and outdoor work in a plant or industrial setting.
  • Interaction with other crew members, supervisors, and client personnel is essential.
  • Work may occur around production machinery with high heat and noise levels.
  • May be required to work in extreme hot or cold environments.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as mandated by the safety department for personal protection on a job-by-job basis.
  • May visit multiple job sites in a single day and must be adaptable to climate changes.
  • Periodic travel out of town may be required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be capable of walking and climbing throughout industrial areas, including stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients in high-pressure situations.
  • Capability to work on elevated or hard-to-reach surfaces in various locations within industrial facilities.
  • Must manage time and scheduling effectively on a weekly basis and be available for travel to offsite locations as needed.
  • Ability to maintain focus and multitask efficiently across different job scopes at various locations.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures, assess each job scope, and mitigate safety hazards with appropriate precautions and personal protective equipment.
