Snowcat and Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Summary
The Snowcat and Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a key member of our team at Bogus Basin Recreational Association. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of our fleet of Pisten Bully groomers, snow removal equipment, and fleet vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair snowcats, heavy equipment, rolling stock, and small engines.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
- Assist in implementing preventative maintenance plans for machinery.
- Repair electrical systems, including starting systems, lighting, wiring, switches, and engine controls.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication.
- Communicate maintenance issues and timelines to relevant departments.
- Document all work done on equipment and machinery.
- Adhere to all department and company safety practices and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with special projects, including those from other departments, as needed.
- Support guests with tasks such as traffic control, jump starts, and selling gas.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Passion for Bogus Basin's mission.
- 2 years' experience or equivalent training in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines, as well as hydraulic and hydro-static systems.
- Welding and acetylene cutting experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to operate large machinery, including snowcats, forklifts, loaders, and plow trucks.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Valid Class A Driver's License.
- Ability to dismantle, repair, construct, and maintain machinery and equipment.
- Capacity to handle multiple projects with competing priorities.
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational training.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Electronic catalog experience and previous heavy equipment experience are a plus.
Working Conditions
- Vehicle maintenance shop environment.
- Outdoor environment, exposed to inclement weather and adverse conditions.
