Nordic Trail Maintenance Specialist

The Nordic Groomer is responsible for ensuring the safe and high-quality execution of grooming and trail maintenance on Bogus Basin's Nordic Trails. Key responsibilities include:

  • Grooming Nordic Trails with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting any issues to the appropriate staff.
  • Providing daily trail condition reports to the Nordic Center staff and updating the conditions board.
  • Collaborating with mechanics for repairs and maintenance.
  • Following established procedures for operating equipment and adhering to service schedules.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment by following safe practices and reporting any hazards.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a professional attitude towards guests and staff.
  • Assisting in mountain rescue efforts, if necessary.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Passion for Bogus Basin's mission.
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation, preferably snowcat and snowmobile grooming.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and varied hours to achieve optimal trail conditions.
  • Physical ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds above shoulder level.
  • Frequent standing, balancing, walking, climbing, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and hear.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be 21 years of age.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor environment, with majority time spent outdoors.
  • Outdoor environment, exposed to inclement weather and adverse conditions.
  • May be exposed to smoke, dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Vibration and noise present in the work environment.
