Requirements:
Experience as a Surgical Technician

The Surgical Technician is accountable for the sterilization of surgical instruments, organizing surgical tools, and ensuring the functionality of medical devices.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the operating room by placing equipment and supplies according to established protocols.
  • Assist the surgical team in positioning the patient on the operating table.
  • Perform hand scrubs and don appropriate surgical attire.
  • Support team members in donning surgical gowns and gloves.
  • Maintain a supply of essential fluids, including plasma, saline, and blood products, for surgical procedures.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon, hold retractors, cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed during surgery.
  • Apply dressings to patients post-surgery.
  • Conduct counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures.
  • Clean and sterilize surgical equipment using appropriate germicides and sterilization methods.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the operating room.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist as required by state and/or client.
  • Preferred one year of experience as a Surgical Technician.
  • Degree in a biology-related field with certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
  • Adhere to all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
  • Understand and maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
