Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Duke Raleigh Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and contributing to the overall success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including administering pre-operative medications and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Participate in the care of patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), monitoring their vital signs and providing emotional support as needed.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
  • Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, including patient information, surgical techniques, and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or maintains an accredited Surgical Technologist certification (NCCT or NBSTSA).
  • At least 6 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment, and often without relief.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy relating to the surgical procedure and the instrumentation required in order to effectively anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
