The Adult Med/Surg & Telemetry Unit at Mercy Hospital is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to enhance their team of caregivers.

As a PRN RN, your responsibilities will include delivering direct nursing care, executing and overseeing patient care plans, administering medications and treatments, evaluating and coordinating discharge plans, and monitoring, documenting, and communicating patients' conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Implement and monitor patient care plans. Document and communicate patient conditions as necessary.
Act as the primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
Execute physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
Maintain professional growth through ongoing education and clinical nursing study.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Preferred: BSN
Certifications:


Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire.

If working in a Critical Care area, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA must be obtained upon hire or within the first year of employment.

Within one year of hire, RNs in specialized units will achieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications as applicable.


Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently.
Must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment and taking appropriate actions.

Experience:
External candidates must possess two years of recent relevant nursing experience.

Internal candidates with less than two years of experience may be considered with appropriate reviews and approvals.

Successful completion of all prescreen competency assessments is required.
Military RN experience will also be considered.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion, including the ability to handle and lift patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires prolonged standing and walking.
Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal ranges.
Must be able to work under stress and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids is expected.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.

Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
