Role Overview: As a caregiver in the PACU, you will work under the guidance of the General Anesthesiology department, ensuring that post-operative patients receive top-tier care and are prepared for discharge. This dedicated team prioritizes patient well-being and mutual support among caregivers. Additionally, you will gain experience in the Same Day Surgery Unit, managing less complex surgical cases that often allow patients to return home the same day. The RN will primarily focus on Phase I recovery while also learning about Preoperative and Phase II recovery processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients.
- Develop, monitor, and adjust patient care plans as necessary.
- Document and communicate patient conditions effectively.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Execute physician and nursing orders accurately.
- Assess and coordinate discharge needs for patients.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding care and recovery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- At least one year of recent acute care RN experience; military RN experience is also considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform a full range of motion, including lifting and handling patients.
- Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
- Ability to work under stress and during irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

- Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
