The Position

We are seeking a Design Engineer (HVAC) to join our Boston or Burlington offices. The successful candidate will prepare engineering design concepts for HVAC building systems for moderately complex assignments.

Project types include corporate, academic, science & technology, industrial, mission critical, civic & entertainment, healthcare, historic preservation & adaptive reuse, and mixed-use.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical / HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and layout of devices
  • Make calculations using engineering formulas such as heating and cooling loads and equipment sizing
  • Consult with Lead Engineer, prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems
  • Research equipment selection from catalogs, under direction of engineer
  • Possess general understanding of applicable building codes, consults with engineer regarding building code requirements
  • Participate and develop company design production standards
  • Promote and use company design production standards
  • Handle multiple projects with efficiency and accuracy
  • Receive and follow through with specific or technical instructions
  • Participate and contribute to a team efforts, exchanging ideas and recommending improvements
  • Attend client meetings, as necessary
  • Visit sites, as required
Position Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent technical training/certification
  • One year experience with HVAC design at an MEP firm
  • Revit skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical system design
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical concepts
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • High degree of analytical skill and ability
