The Senior Mechanical Plant Engineer is tasked with defining, organizing, planning, and executing all small capital investment projects to ensure they are cost-effective, timely, and safely utilize cutting-edge engineering concepts. The incumbent must ensure that all activities within the assigned area comply with accepted engineering practices, regulations, cGMP, and Evonik Corporation policies and standards. This role provides technical expertise to maintain and continuously enhance assigned areas to minimize costs while ensuring safe and high-quality operations. The Senior Mechanical Plant Engineer is expected to take responsibility for small to medium-sized capital projects and may also provide input for new product estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Support daily maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment and machinery to reduce downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancement and implement solutions to boost efficiency, reliability, and safety within the plant.
- Project Management: Oversee small capital and technical change projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, and participate in audits and inspections as necessary.
- Training and Development: Mentor and train junior engineering staff to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
- Documentation: Create and maintain engineering specifications, standards, and equipment work instructions to improve equipment uptime and reduce maintenance and spare part costs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, process engineering, and maintenance, to resolve plant engineering challenges and achieve operational objectives.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in plant engineering or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the Chemical or Pharmaceutical Industry is preferred.
- Proficient in project management tools and techniques, with a proven history of successfully managing engineering projects.
- Capable of managing a budget of $2.5M-$3M per year.
- Familiarity with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and procedures.
