Position Overview

The Dauphin County Library System is seeking a dedicated full-time Information Resources Administrator. This pivotal role is designed to lead the collection management and information services departments, ensuring that the library effectively addresses the needs and interests of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the collection management, information services, inter-library loan, and cataloging operations.
  2. Ensure the library's collection aligns with State Standards and organizational objectives.
  3. Manage and mentor the Collection Management and Information Services teams.
  4. Conduct regular staff meetings to foster communication and collaboration.
  5. Maintain expertise in all modules of the Integrated Library System (ILS) utilized by the collection management team.
  6. Establish and nurture relationships with vendors and publishers to facilitate timely and cost-effective acquisition of library materials and databases.
  7. Develop and oversee departmental and collection budgets.
  8. Coordinate acquisition expenditures with the finance department.
  9. Provide training for library staff in Collection Management and collaborate with district partners on inter-library loan inquiries.
  10. Stay informed about current library trends and best practices.
  11. Communicate system-wide goals, priorities, and policy changes to staff.
  12. Collaborate with marketing teams to promote information services and library resources.
  13. Participate in staff meetings and continuing education workshops, and engage in system committees.
  14. Uphold a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  15. Embody the Core Values of the organization.
  16. Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or enrollment in an ALA-accredited MLS program is preferred. A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in a public library environment, including two years in a supervisory role. Proficiency in technology, information research, and cataloging is essential. Candidates should also have two years of active experience with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software, along with internet research skills in a Windows environment. Strong customer service and communication abilities are required, as well as the capacity to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.
