Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at S. W. Cole Engineering. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading project work and engineering assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate field and laboratory testing, and perform field services.
  • Independently evaluate and select procedures based on specific project needs.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of projects by planning, preparing proposals, budgets, scopes, schedules, and assigning necessary tasks to staff involved with the project(s).
  • Analyze, interpret, and evaluate data from field and laboratory findings.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with teammates, design professionals, and contractors.
  • Accurately review project billing, and track time spent on projects consistently.
  • Safely operate and handle company testing equipment and vehicles in accordance with company policies/safety policies.
  • Perform and/or coordinate field services (i.e. subgrade observations, pile driving observations, installation of geotechnical instrumentation, etc.).
  • Interact during project work with staff, general public, clients, contractors, and others, attend project meetings, and maintain specific client relationships.
  • Regularly attend professional meetings and business and industry events.
  • Practice confidentiality according to company policy.
Requirements
  • Civil Engineering required, with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related engineering and project management experience, or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions required of Project Geotechnical Engineer.
  • Risk management training.
  • Experience with and in-depth knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, MathCAD, geotechnical analysis programs, and able to learn new programs.
  • Broad knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Skilled in collecting, analyzing, and organizing complex data.
  • Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
  • Has an established network of industry contacts and clients in New England and regularly participates in related trade events.
