Mechanical Engineering Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified and accomplished Professor of Mechanical Engineering to join our faculty at the University of Alabama. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department's research and teaching mission, with a focus on developing and leading a highly productive research group in an area of mechanical engineering.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead a research program in mechanical engineering, with a focus on securing external funding and publishing high-impact research in top-tier journals.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, with a focus on developing and delivering high-quality educational experiences for students.
- Contribute to the department's service mission, with a focus on participating in departmental and university-wide committees, and engaging in outreach and community service activities.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated record of prior research work and a record of impactful scholarly publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, and similarly impactful venues.
- Demonstrated outstanding record in mechanical education and/or professional service in area(s) of specialization.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- 5+ years of experience as a tenure-track/tenured faculty member at a leading peer R1 institution.
- Demonstrated record of building and sustaining a high-quality, productive, and impactful research program, including the successful mentoring of graduate students and development of significant extramural research funding.
- Demonstrated record of excellent teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Demonstrated record of high-quality research and scholarly journal and conference publications that are recognized nationally and/or internationally.
