Position Overview:
As an Operating Room Technician, you will play a vital role within the surgical team. Your expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques will be essential.

Utilizing your understanding of human anatomy and surgical procedures, you will assist in facilitating the physician's execution of both invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

This part-time position is primarily based at our surgery center, with the flexibility to assist at other locations as needed. The current schedule consists of 10-hour shifts, amounting to 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in sterile techniques within the surgical environment.
- Prepare the operating room and sterile field for upcoming procedures.
- Adhere to established protocols for surgical preparation.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing necessary instruments promptly.
- Manage contaminated instruments and equipment appropriately.
- Participate in confirming patient identity, planned procedures, and surgical sites.
- Ensure the best possible surgical experience for patients.
- Verify the availability of correct implants before procedures.
- Dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
- Assist in the reprocessing of surgical instruments if qualified.
- Maintain cleanliness of the operating room as per facility standards.
- Keep physician preference cards updated.
- Complete unusual occurrence reports accurately and promptly.
- Engage in evaluating new supplies and equipment.
- Understand the role of the Certified Surgical Technologist in emergency situations.

Qualifications:
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred or enrollment in a Surgical Technologist program.
- Certification within one year of hire is required.
- Current Basic Life Support certification is mandatory.
- Professional affiliation is recommended.
- Immunizations and/or titers as required.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Visual acuity to assist in procedures as necessary.
- Capability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds of surgical instruments.
