The role involves performing moderately complex custodial tasks across designated locations, including office spaces, facilities, and resident living areas. Responsibilities include cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Operate floor maintenance machinery such as strippers, buffers, vacuums, and extractors. Manage supply requests and restocking as needed. Assist in inspecting buildings and equipment for cleanliness and necessary repairs. Participate in minor building and equipment repairs and installations. Provide training to fellow custodians as required. Ensure custodial equipment is maintained in optimal condition. Maintain the exterior areas surrounding buildings, including trash and debris removal. Perform related duties as assigned, including covering for other custodians when necessary. Work under general supervision with moderate discretion for initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

Regular attendance is essential, and you may be required to adhere to a specific shift schedule or, at times, a rotating schedule, extended shifts, and/or overtime as per agency leave policies.

May serve in an on-call capacity on a rotating schedule to meet the operational needs of the facility.


Execute custodial tasks promptly and with high standards, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows and light fixtures. Ensure proper sanitization and disinfection according to received training.

Maintain and clean floors, restrooms, bedrooms, nurses' stations, and isolation areas following established procedures and safety protocols.


Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of assigned buildings. Report any necessary repairs. Empty trash and replenish supplies as required.

Train and mentor other custodians as needed, documenting any training conducted.

Inspect assigned buildings and areas for cleanliness, completed tasks, and minor repairs, performing maintenance as necessary.

Complete documentation accurately and promptly. Safeguard confidential information. Maintain inventory and equipment records.

Assist residents in maintaining optimal health and ensure a safe environment for yourself, the individuals served, and others.

Additional duties may include actively participating in or supporting the agency's disaster response and/or recovery efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. This may necessitate alternate shift patterns or assignments.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with cleaning techniques, standards, and sanitation regulations.

Understanding of infection control principles and methods.

Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.

Proficiency in using custodial equipment, materials, and safe handling of chemicals.

Skill in operating and maintaining building maintenance tools and equipment.

Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.

Capacity to train others.

Ability to supervise the work of others.

Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand or walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.

Ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers and residents.

Willingness to work irregular hours.
