Caregiver and Assistant Trainee Position

The Good Samaritan Society is seeking a Nursing Assistant Trainee to join our team of caring and compassionate staff. As a Nursing Assistant Trainee, you will be enrolled in a learning experience designed to develop the confidence and competence to serve as a caregiver that provides personal care to clients.

Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, you will work in partnership with a preceptor to provide holistic client-centered care that promotes independence and client rights in a safe, caring, and efficient manner.

The Nursing Assistant Trainee is required to work within the role of a non-certified nursing assistant and is enrolled in a formal nursing assistant program. You will be required to fulfill all training requirements in the designated timeframe.

The program is delivered in a hybrid format, which includes an online curriculum and hands-on skills development. You will learn the skills and processes needed to provide care and assistance to clients.

At completion of the training program, participants will be prepared to take state knowledge and skills exams to obtain the Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) or other state certification designation.

While in the Nursing Assistant Training Program, you will serve as a member of the nursing team and will be held accountable to know and follow location-specific standards for infection prevention and control, personal protective equipment use, safety, and privacy.

You will demonstrate the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, do detailed work correctly, handle stress, demonstrate critical thinking, and prioritize responsibilities.

You will work with clients and their families to ensure their physical, cognitive, spiritual, emotional, and social needs are met.

You will deliver age-appropriate care to meet the physical, psychological, and restorative needs of the client as defined in the care plan.

You will assist the care team and document client care when appropriate. You will communicate changes in client condition and care-related concerns to a licensed nurse.

You will assist with basic health care needs and activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, undressing, obtaining vital signs, providing psychosocial support, and delivering other personal care as assigned.

You will assist clients with meals and snacks and provide water and nutritional supplements as appropriate.

You will assist with housekeeping, laundry services, and other duties as assigned within non-certified nursing assistant role.

Qualifications include a high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required, minimum age of 16, prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred, and certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry when applicable.

The Good Samaritan Society offers an attractive benefits package for qualifying full-time and part-time employees, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, work/life balance benefits, and a generous time off package.
