Purpose & Scope:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of complex biomedical equipment in a clinical environment. This position requires the individual to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and verify the performance of these devices with minimal supervision.

The BMET II must be proficient in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required for these duties. Additionally, they may serve as a technical advisor to medical and clinical staff, providing guidance on the safe operation and use of clinical equipment.

This position also involves assisting in the development of specifications for the selection of new clinical equipment. The individual is expected to demonstrate adherence to core values in all professional interactions, showcasing respect, creating real value, initiating meaningful change, and exhibiting integrity.

Education & Experience:

An associate degree in a technical or electronics field, equivalent military training, or equivalent experience is required for this position.

Three years of experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment is preferred.

Certification & Qualifications:
  • Valid State Driver's License is required.
  • Certification in at least one specialty area is preferred.
  • Technical Certification (CBET) is also preferred.
  • The individual must demonstrate competencies at a Biomedical Equipment Technician II level within the first 90 days of employment, as per department competency evaluation.
  • Complex computer skills, including system administration, error code interpretation, hard-drive defragmentation, power supply replacement, and computer code interpretation, are essential.
  • The ability to integrate information from various sources and possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are also required.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentational communication skills are necessary for this role.
  • Variable travel requirements may necessitate the use of a personal vehicle.
