As a Trust Counsel at Stock Yards Bank and Trust, you will collaborate closely with Wealth Advisors, Trust, Tax, and Investment Teams to deliver comprehensive trust, estate, and investment management solutions for clients. This role encompasses a wide range of fiduciary responsibilities, including estates, personal trusts, LLCs, foundations, and other relevant fiduciary capacities.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing continuous legal guidance and support for the Wealth Management Group.
- Managing ongoing trust and estate administration in line with trust instruments and client relations, which involves reviewing wills and trust agreements to ascertain fiduciary duties and trust accountings.
- Identifying, assessing, and escalating legal and regulatory changes and associated risks.
- Overseeing policies and procedures related to trust administration in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Conducting legal analyses of new business opportunities.
- Supervising external legal counsel supporting the Wealth Management Group.
- Offering legal assistance for special projects as required.
- Fostering new business development among existing trust clients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree is mandatory.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in trust law and estate administration.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Capability to organize and manage trust and estate workloads efficiently.
- Proven experience in advising clients and partners on legal strategies.
- Must be licensed to practice law in Kentucky.
- Potential responsibility for supervising an administrative assistant.
