POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role involves the design and enhancement of extrusion control systems, ensuring that both new and existing systems meet specified requirements. The engineer will participate in the assembly checkout process on the Shop Floor, identifying and documenting necessary modifications to align with sold specifications. Evaluation of systems, components, or processes for cost-effectiveness and reliability is also a key responsibility to guarantee successful project outcomes.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop control systems tailored for continuous web handling machinery according to specified requirements.
  • Collaborate on design and drafting tasks under the mentorship of a Senior or Staff Project Engineer.
  • Support the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) in conjunction with design teams.
  • Oversee the activities of junior design engineers and coordinate with engineering staff to ensure timely project completion.
  • Provide assistance for assembly, procurement, and field-service inquiries and challenges.
  • Engage in Project Team meetings for contract discussions and design evaluations.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% for client interactions, vendor discussions, and system start-up/commissioning as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Controls and Electrical Engineering Manager.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 management systems is advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of experience in designing controls and electrical systems for industrial automation or machinery is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in control system design, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, test plans, and manuals.
  • Familiarity with high-speed servo applications and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Proficient in Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC programming.
  • Experience with HMI programming using platforms such as RSView ME/SE or Wonderware.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and their operational requirements.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

COMPENSATION: $70,000 - $95,000, depending on experience.
