Role Summary:

The Laboratory Manager is accountable for the comprehensive oversight of the Clinical Laboratory, encompassing strategic planning, financial management, supervision, and assessment of all client programs and services. This role ensures that departmental goals are met efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily operations of designated laboratory sections, ensuring adherence to quality assurance protocols, effective scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Ensures compliance with all corporate regulations and standards (CAP, TJC, OSHA) to maintain readiness for client assignments.
  • Collaborates with leadership to formulate long-term operational strategies concerning services, programs, and resource allocation, including space and equipment recommendations.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual operational and capital budgets, addressing discrepancies within established timelines.
  • Manages Human Resources activities related to timely performance evaluations, maintaining accurate employee records and facilitating new hire orientations.
  • Conducts technical or clinical testing as necessary to support laboratory operations and ensure the functionality of patient testing systems.

Qualifications:

Operates in an environment with potential exposure to biohazardous materials and various hazards. Employees are expected to adhere to safety protocols and may need to perform physical tasks, including lifting weights ranging from light (20 pounds) to moderate (50 pounds).

Patient Care:

Exhibits understanding of growth and development principles, demonstrating the necessary skills and competencies to cater to the diverse needs of the patient population served.

Equipment Responsibility:

Accountable for the safe operation of all laboratory equipment, including analyzers, processing tools, computers, and safety devices.
