Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Planner Specialist to join our team at the City of Reno. As a key member of our planning department, you will be responsible for performing professional and technical planning work, analyzing data, and making presentations to various governing bodies and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis of development trends using various data collection methods
  • Draft maps and graphic information displaying relevant development information
  • Evaluate the City's facilities, programs, and policies for compliance with local, state, and federal laws
  • Develop and maintain a database of statistical information essential to planning-related studies and policies
  • Review proposed state legislation for possible fiscal and/or operational impacts on the City

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, urban/regional planning, or a related field
  • Two years of increasingly responsible urban planning experience
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license
  • Registration as a professional Landscape Architect is desirable

Working Environment:

The work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with some travel from site to site and exposure to an outdoor field environment.
