Job Summary

As a Senior Planner with the City of Reno, you will lead and oversee the work of professional planning staff, providing expert guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of the City's planning initiatives. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of urban planning principles, policies, and procedures, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and participate in the development of complex planning projects, including master plans, zoning ordinances, and land use policies.
Provide technical guidance and support to planning staff, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Collaborate with other City departments and external stakeholders to ensure that planning initiatives align with the City's overall goals and objectives.
Analyze and interpret complex data, including demographic and economic trends, to inform planning decisions.
Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage the public and stakeholders in the planning process.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field.
Three years of increasingly responsible urban planning experience, including lead supervisory responsibility.
Possession of an AICP certification from the American Planning Association is desirable.
Strong understanding of urban planning principles, policies, and procedures.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and develop effective communication strategies.
