Job Title: Research Director - Climate Policy Expert

Public Citizen is seeking a highly skilled Research Director to lead our Climate Program's investigative research efforts. As a key member of our team, you will conceive, initiate, and manage research projects that advance our mission to hasten the transition to clean, renewable energy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic research agendas in priority areas, collaborating with the Climate Program director and colleagues.
  • Investigate policy issues, markets, corporations, and individuals using traditional investigative methods.
  • Produce written materials, including reports, editorial board memos, op-eds, and social media content.
  • Articulate investigative findings and policy positions in media interviews and podcasts.
  • Maintain familiarity with relevant policy issues, debates, and proposals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic, government, and other researchers.
  • Edit written materials and plan strategic communications efforts.
  • Cultivate exclusive coverage of new research in top-tier media outlets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 15 years of relevant experience as a researcher or reporter.
  • Outstanding analytical thinking, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer-assisted reporting techniques, database development, and management.
  • Strong sense of how to use research to affect public policy debates and advance advocacy campaigns.
