Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Safety Manager to join our team at Power Corporation of America. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in minimizing the risk of job-related accidents and ensuring a safe working environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create and enforce comprehensive safety policies and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Site Inspections and Investigations: Conduct regular site inspections and investigations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to prevent accidents.
  • Collaborate with Operations Teams: Work closely with operations teams to develop site-specific safety plans and participate in safety meetings to review potential hazards and exposures.
  • Train and Coach Employees: Provide training and coaching to employees on current HSE work practices, rules, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Prepare Reports and Present Findings: Prepare reports for management reviews on observations, investigations, employee injuries, property damage, and utility incidents.
  • Enforce OSH Policies: Enforce OSH policies, including accident reporting processes, to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Coordinate Drug Screening: Coordinate random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screenings to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Direct Accident Investigations: Direct accident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Follow-up on Corrective Actions: Follow up with operations teams to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidents.
  • Keep Safety Records: Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop and Implement OSH Training Plans: Develop and implement OSH training plans to ensure employees are aware of current HSE work practices, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Managers: Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Intervene in Unsafe Activities: Intervene in unsafe activities or operations to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a safety coordinator in the power line construction industry.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Safety Certifications: Minimum of one (1) safety certification preferred, such as CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, or CSP.
  • Undergraduate Degree: Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or related field preferred; combination of relevant experience and education considered in lieu of degree.
  • OSHA 30 Training: OSHA 30 training certification required.
  • CUSP Certification: CUSP certification or OSHA training certification preferred.
  • Experience in Implementing OSH Training Programs: Experience in implementing OSH training programs preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office: Proficient in MS Office required.
  • Excellent Communication and Advisory Skills: Excellent communication and advisory skills required.
  • Diligent with Analytical Mind: Diligent with an analytical mind required.
  • MVR Qualification: MVR qualification required to be an approved company driver.
  • Pass Pre-employment Drug Screen: Pass pre-employment drug screen required.
