Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in providing and coordinating clinical and non-clinical services under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider at Mid Michigan Health. This position requires a strong ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, as well as perform a variety of clerical duties to support the Wound Treatment Center staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Non-Clinical Services (40%): Communicate with payors, update and document outcomes, perform pre-certification duties, and assist with clerical services such as answering phones, greeting patients, and scheduling appointments.
  • Clinical Services (40%): Assist RNs or LPNs/LVNs during patient intake and discharge, collect and record data, take wound photography and measurements, track responses to treatment, and report unusual observations or changes in patient condition.
  • Hyperbaric Services (10%): Perform Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy-related duties as needed, upon completion of required Healogics training.
  • Other Duties (10%): Support the mission, goals, policies, and standards of nursing, provide age-specific care, and demonstrate professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Requirements
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification
  • Equivalent experience within 3 months of hire or transfer
  • PCT - MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN certification or completion of an accredited LPN program
Physical and Mental Requirements

Exposure to stressful situations, ability to wear personal protective equipment, and ability to move freely about the facility. Must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
